OM Bar 392 Flagler Ave Great Memories
It’s now called Avanu On Flagler but there used to be a place there that was known as a bar, chill lounge and speakeasy. The OM Bar 392 Flagler Ave great memories won’t be forgotten by those of us long-time New Smyrna Beach beachside residents.

All the locals always refer to New Smyrna Beach as two places, mainland and beachside. They even have different zip codes. Beachside is 32169 and mainland is 32168. Beachside is an island with just two entrances, the North Causeway (Flagler Avenue) and South Causeway (3rd Avenue). There is only one public school on the island, Coronado Beach Elementary School, where my daughter attended.
Years ago, in the days of the Barracuda’s Bar and Grille and Atlantis Bistro there was the OM Chill Bar. Even today if you look at Facebook, TripAdvisor or Yelp, it was called a chill lounge, speakeasy and bar.
Back then, on a Friday night you had a lot of choices for live music on Flagler Avenue, but OM stood apart as it was not the typical cover bands. They were known for unique musicians, many with their own original songs. Some nights it was standing room only, others just a handful of locals, but always great fun and good drinks.

Another thing that will always be remembered is that unique backdrop on the stage.
Flagler Avenue was a lot different then, many places were boarded up from a time past or we’re for sale. The only hot food after 10 PM was Tayton O’Brians. They only had a wine and beer license at that time. So much has changed.
The next place that came along with late food was Flagler Avenue Pizza Company. What many people don’t realize is that, Avanu on Flagler was built over that location but not physically part of it. So, although it appears as upstairs, it has the 392 address not the 396 address.

We love Avanu but still do miss OM.
